Summer at Wardside House: A Season Full of Joy

As the days grow longer and the air becomes warmer, Wardside House transforms into a hub of sunshine-fuelled energy and camaraderie. With thoughtful planning and enthusiasm from both staff and residents, summer comes alive here through a diverse range of uplifting activities.

Crafts Club: Hands-On Creativity

Our regular Tuesday and Thursday Craft Clubs remain a cornerstone of summer delight. Residents have been busy making bird feeders, pastel paper bouquets, and colourful scarecrows for the nearby Muthill Gala Week. In fact, our community-made scarecrow even took pride of place at the top of the Wardside driveway — sparks of creativity blooming for all to enjoy (Wardside House).

Warm Afternoon Treats: Ice Cream & BBQs

Nothing says “summer” like ice cream on a sunny afternoon — and at Wardside House, treats are a highlight. When weather permits, residents gather for BBQ lunches, following them up with cool ice creams to enjoy outdoors . These spontaneous moments, though simple, build lasting smiles and memories.

Outdoor Beautification: Blooms Everywhere

Summer brings with it a riot of colour — quite literally — as residents Marjorie and Margaret plant vibrant flowers in front-planter boxes. Their efforts are paying off beautifully, with blooms now filling the façade with rich summer hues (Wardside House).

Tea & Conversation: Heartfelt Moments

Every day, a cup of tea and biscuits becomes a moment of warmth and connection. As staff member Jackie Hird beautifully described:

“With a cup of tea and biscuits, we hand out love and care… It’s a homely family feeling… listening to your stories, valuing the experience of another.” (Wardside House)

That’s the spirit of Wardside House: taking simple comforts and filling them with meaningful conversation and companionship.

Live Performances & Community Engagement

Summer at Wardside House includes culture and melody.
Muthill Primary School performed a musical concert, and singers from the local Guildhall brought beautiful live music to brighten our residents’ days (Wardside House). These performances foster intergenerational connection while filling our lounges with joyful tunes.

Why Summer at Wardside Works

  • Routine with Variety: Regular activities — crafts, tea, guest visits — give structure, while events like BBQs and concerts add seasonal flair.

  • Resident-Centric Decisions: From chef meet-ups to gardening input, residents are consulted and engaged at every level.

  • Community Connections: Bringing in local talent and students brings brightness and intergenerational interaction.

  • Real Warmth: Whether over ice cream or a favorite magazine, moments of belonging and genuine care make summer days special.

Final Thoughts

At Wardside House, summer isn’t just a change in season — it’s a celebration of life enriched through creativity, connection, and comfort. From crafting to concerts, flowers to warm treats, every day is designed to enhance wellbeing and joy. Residents remain at the heart of our activities — steering decisions, sharing laughter, and blooming in community as brightly as the flowers they plant.

So here’s to a summer of sunshine, smiles, and shared stories — at Wardside House, life truly stays joyful.
