Meet Linda – Our Activities Lady
At Wardside House, we believe that life should be full of colour, creativity and connection — no matter what age you are. That's exactly what our wonderful Activities Coordinator, Linda, brings to our home every single day.
Linda has a natural gift for bringing people together. With her warmth, enthusiasm and endless patience, she has a wonderful way of encouraging everyone to get involved, have a go, and — most importantly — have fun along the way. Whether someone is a lifelong artist or has never picked up a paintbrush, Linda makes sure there's a place for everyone at the table.
A Month of Flowers, Colour and Creativity
This month our residents have been busy exploring their creative side, with a beautiful selection of activities inspired by flowers and colour:
Pressing and preserving beautiful flowers — turning garden blooms into lasting framed keepsakes Creating paper mâché shells — hand-decorated with delicate floral and butterfly designs 🎨Painting mini canvases — miniature works of art, each one entirely unique to its creator
Making beautiful handmade cards — crafted with buttons, ribbon and a personal touch
The results have been on proud display around the home — a real celebration of the imagination and skill our residents bring to every session.
Why Craft and Activities Matter in a Care Home
Activities like these are about far more than simply passing the time. They play a genuine role in wellbeing:
Keeping hands and minds active — fine motor skills and concentration are gently exercised through crafting
Encouraging self-expression — everyone has a story or a memory to bring into their work, from a favourite flower to a childhood pastime
Building connection — shared activities bring residents together, spark conversation, and create moments of laughter and companionship
Boosting confidence and mood — finishing a piece of work and seeing it displayed brings a real sense of pride and achievement
A sense of purpose — having something to look forward to each week matters enormously to overall happiness
It's this kind of thoughtful, person-centred care — the kind that nurtures not just the body but the spirit — that we're proud to offer every resident at Wardside House.
Thank You, Linda!
A huge thank you to Linda for the joy, creativity and care she brings to our activities programme. Sessions like these are a real highlight of life at Wardside House, and it shows in every smiling face and every beautifully finished piece of work.
